BURSARIES

The Plant: Playground and Laboratory for New Technologies at Maastricht University will offer bursaries of €300 and waive the conference registration fees to support five (5) presenters with limited financial resources or in precarious working positions who wish to attend DH Benelux 2026 in Maastricht.

Call for Applications

The bursaries are intended to reduce participation costs (e.g. travel and accommodation) for scholars, early-career researchers, independent researchers, cultural heritage professionals, and others who might otherwise be unable to attend. Applicants must have at least one accepted contribution (paper, poster, lightning talk, workshop, panel, or demo) in the DH Benelux 2026 programme.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Priority will be given to applicants who:

  • Are in precarious or low-income positions (e.g. short-term or fractional contracts, unfunded or self-funded PhDs, independent scholars, under- or unemployed researchers, staff from low-resource institutions).
  • Demonstrate that financial constraints would significantly limit their ability to attend the conference.
  • Show that participation in DH Benelux 2026 will have clear academic, professional, or community impact (e.g. advancing a project, strengthening collaborations, supporting career development, community engagement).

In cases of equal merit, the selection committee may also consider:

  • Contribution to diversity of voices and perspectives within the DH Benelux community.
  • Balance across institutions, countries/regions, and career stages.
